Falcon 8X is back to the best of show and tell

Dassault Falcon Asia Pacific president Jean Michel Jacob says he’s heading into the 2019 Australian International Airshow optimistic regarding the prospects for orders from local customers.

In particular, Jacob is hoping to land a first order for the company’s flagship Falcon 8X. The 8X is the most recent member of the Falcon family of business jets and designed to enable flights such as Sydney-Mumbai, Hong Kong-London or Beijing-Los Angeles.

The aircraft was on display at the Avalon Airshow at 2017 and entered service. And while there’s yet to be an Australian client for its company jet that was flagship, Jacob said that he was convinced the very first sale was not far away.

“We’ve not closed one deal but we are getting close to finalising some deals in Australia for its 8X,” Jacob explained.

“We’ve got a great deal of curiosity about our Falcon 8X and 7X and we all hope to do some deals over the upcoming weeks and weeks in this very particular part of the world. ”

With a cabin length of 13 metres, the Falcon 8X is capable of flying eight passengers and three crew 6,450nm at a rate of 0.8 Mach. What’s more, the cabin can be configured up to 30 different ways, including the potential to install a shower at the restroom.

Dassault will have the Falcon 8X at the airshow along with a Falcon 2000LXS.

Meanwhile, Jacob stated there’d been a powerful response in the Asia Pacific into the company’s in-development Falcon 6X, that was launched in February 2018.

The decision came after the company cancelled its 5X program because of engine delays in mid-December 2017.

The 6X’s 5,500nm range opens up a swath of central/northern China along with the eastern subcontinent. By Perth, it means substantial insight into fundamental Asia along with a large proportion of eastern Africa, in addition to non-stop flights into the Gulf.

The cabin, at 1.98m high and 2.58m wide, is designed to seat up to 16 passengers in 3 separate lounge areas.
In October 2018, Dassault stated it had completed the preliminary layout and entered the detailed design stage for its Falcon 6X, with initial flight slated for 2021. Jacob said program progressed on schedule.

The deal covered facilities in 42 countries across the Middle East, Oceania, the Asia Pacific and Africa. In this part of the world, this comprised Execujet’s foundation at Melbourne Essendon Airport, which offers MRO services under an Australian Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) Certificate of Approval and New Zealand Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) approval. It’s also a United States Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Part 145 Repair Station.

Maintenance work is also conducted by execuJet at its Sydney and Perth facilities.

Jacob said the deal would strengthen Dassault’s MRO community and enhance the customer experience of operators of its aircraft.

They require the aircraft available; they require the aircraft passed quickly; they need to be supported at any time and that&rsquo Jacob explained.

Jacob stated there were 12 Falcon business jets located in the South Pacific area.
